August Gallery Hop

Despite the Ohio State Fair and the Dublin Irish Festival, a big crowd still came out for the Short North Gallery Hop. New shops are in the air including a Jeni's Ice Cream at Lincoln & High, Gary's Gallery, and (above) FLOWER CHILD, a vintage shop branching out from Cleveland. FLOWER CHILD won't open until next month (next to Roy G Biv Gallery) but it will have a large space, a former storefront office.
Mayor Coleman had his THINK TANK computer station set-up for all your "outside the box" ideas. What to do with City Center Mall is probably what he's looking for first.
ROY G. BIV Gallery had their normal abstract objects and odd pictures.
The Surlygirl Saloon has a GADFLY GALLERY upstairs (which featured a pretty good cartoon artist) and a "VAN GALLERY" in a van parked in front of the Surlygirl. This month the Van had posters and videos of Detroit rock bands. Kinda weird to walk in just to see this.
Waldo's has been sold to its third owner since its 1986 beginning as the first art gallery-slash-hair salon. The interior is all new, but the art gallery continues with this realistic painter.
